Meet The team

Dr. Nish Patel

Dr. Nish Patel has been a member of our eyecare team since 2002. He graduated from the science and technology program at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, MD. He went on to attend Northwestern University, where he earned a degree in physiology with honors.

He graduated from the New England College of Optometry in 2011, where he served on the Executive Board of Vision Development. Dr. Nish Patel is a member of the Maryland Optometric Association.

Dr. Veera Patel

During her college years, Dr. Veera Patel spent some time volunteering abroad with a non-profit group, Unite for Sight, to help underserved populations in remote villages regain their sight through cataract operations. These experiences solidified her passion for life's work.

She and her husband live in Gambrills, MD, and they both continue to help their patients and community with their eyecare needs. In her free time, Dr. Veera Patel loves to watch movies, cook, and travel! She is a member of the Maryland Optometric Association.

Dr. Felix Lee is excited to return home to Maryland and join our family, helping his community with their vision needs after practicing in the New Jersey and New York area. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland, College Park, he went on to earn an additional B.S. in vision science and his Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern College of Optometry. Dr. Lee received honorable distinctions in clinical care throughout his externships in various primary and tertiary care settings that included the Malcom Randall Veterans Affairs Hospital in Gainesville, FL, Eye Centers of South Florida, and The Eye Care Institute in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Dr. Lee provides all aspects of primary vision care, including comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings, and the evaluation and management of chronic and acute ocular pathology. He strives to provide personalized and compassionate care to each patient with the latest research and treatment methods supported by evidence-based care. Dr. Lee is a member of the American Optometric Association. When not in the office, he enjoys playing golf, traveling, improving his culinary skills, and supporting his alma mater, the Maryland Terrapins.

Dr. Lixin Zhang was born and raised in the beautiful coastal city of Qingdao, China. He immigrated to Houston, TX, and then attended the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA, where he obtained his doctorate degree.

Dr. Zhang is passionate about providing exceptional personalized vision care. He provides comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fittings, and the treatment of ocular diseases. He also has a strong interest in myopia control, dry eye diseases, and specialty contact lenses.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Zhang enjoys working out, skiing, playing basketball, and taking care of his dog Milo with his fiancée May. He looks forward to welcoming you to our eyecare center and helping you achieve the best possible vision!

Dr. Alpana Scantlin

Dr. Alpana Scantlin is originally from Maryland. She graduated from Annapolis Area Christian School magna cum laude. She completed a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 3 years. She then went on to attend the University of the Incarnate Word, Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, TX, where she graduated in 2017 in the top 10 of her class.

Dr. Scantlin continued her education at Rosenberg School of Optometry by completing a residency program that specialized in primary care and ocular disease. She is also a captain in the United States Air Force Reserve, where she also serves as an optometrist.

Gaby Corzo

Practice Administrator

Born and raised by two Guatemalan parents in Prince George's County, Gaby graduated from Bowie High School in 2011. She’s now a proud dog mom to her beloved Oso Bear, a German Shepherd-Husky mix with striking brown and blue eyes.

Gaby’s journey with Peepers began unexpectedly when she came in for a routine eye exam and received a job offer from the previous owner. After some time away to explore a different career path, she was drawn back by the warm and inviting environment created by the new owners, the Dr. Patels. Since then, Gaby has worked her way up to become the Practice Administrator.

In her free time, Gaby enjoys attending concerts, bowling, keeping up with the latest social media trends, and dancing.
